John Luisi, an attorney in private practice, said his main issues of concern would be publicizing all of the borough president’s discretionary spending both in the Staten Island Advance, and on his website so that constituents can see where their tax dollars are going, as well as using technology to allow easier communication between the office and constituents.  Mr. Luisi’s campaign is based on many of Citizens Union’s reform principles, including his focus on increasing transparency of government. Citizens Union is endorsing Mr. Luisi because the organization believes he would be a strong representative for Staten Island, bringing a fresh and progressive agenda to the borough presidency and the youth and energy to effect much-needed change.
